Mars or Bust: Elon Musk Determined to Step Foot on the Red Planet
- SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said there’s a “70 percent chance” he’ll personally travel to Mars.
Musk is no stranger to setting lofty goals. The 47 year old entrepreneur and billionaire is now determined to visit the red planet—Mars.
Musk discussed the benefits and dangers of visiting the planet in a new interview for Axios on HBO:
You might land successfully, and once you land successfully, you’ll be working non-stop to build the base,” he said. “So, you know, not much time for leisure. And even after doing all this, it’s a very harsh environment. So … there’s a good chance you die there.”
Despite the dangers, Musk is determined to go. He compared his determination to that of wanting to climb Mount Everest.
He believes the trip is possible within 7 years and for “around a couple of hundred thousand dollars.”
